Jobless Claims Jump, Durable Goods Orders Up


The durable goods news can be a teachable moment. While the aggregate is up, the adjusted figure excluding transportation is down.


The number of U.S. workers filing new claims for jobless benefits unexpectedly surged last week to the highest level in over three months. Separately, durable-goods demand soared 3%.
